Storage for over a year
 

My '04 STi has been sitting for over a year. The engine hasn't turned at all for quite a while now (16 months) and I need to move it. Towing is not an option and I want to make sure I don't do any harm to the engine. I will replace the battery, change the oil (and filter).

I think I should drain the gas and replace the fuel filter, but I'm not the expert on doing so. No stabil was introduced to the tank.

ANYBODY who has some advice on what you think I should do would be GREATLY appreciated. A quick how to on what is necessary would be very helpful.

you might want to change your tires or at least check for blad spots sinces its been sittin for 16 months

Thanks xhengmanx, tires will be changed too... but not as critical as the motor.

annother thing to check for is just make sure all fluids are replaced and up to specs and you know about your gas already so other then that you should be good to go...

Agreed. Maybe another thing I'm asking for is how difficult is it to drain the old gas and replace the fuel filter? I have a great floor jack and jack stands. Any advice there?

that im not sure of.. i have never scifened out the gas or even tried... i dont think you will need to replace the fuel filter but just replace the fuel.... maybe ask around to see if you can add octane boster?

Tires should be fine as long as they held air, flat spots are a thing of the past imho, no clue on draining the gas. The oil change thing is probably a good idea, cheap insurance. When you start the car, put the gas peddle on the floor, most new cars dont start at wot so you'll just be priming your oil pressure. Get a second opinion on this if you want, but I do it every time I start my car, on all the cars I've ever owned, no problems.
