No, you don't 'need' one. and it's kind of a b***h to install, so for your setup, I say stick with the stock one (your 06 STI has no up-pipe cats to worry about)

you 'may' at some point WANT to do it, but it's not needed at the current stage you're at, just get a Downpipe and go stage2
