Spend a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center at La'ie. Join a tour for the day, then have a lu'au dinner at night (they have kalua pig and other Hawai'ian food like pipikaula, lomi lomi salmon, poke, etc.). Make sure to catch the Horizons night show afterwards too. It's a great experience and a fun way to learn more about Polynesian culture. Make sure you bring lots of water though, 'cuz it'll be a long hot day and drinks are a rip-off there

agreed. just went there 3 weeks ago. there were lots of things i learned about polynesians that i never knew. really good experience. and its not really "touristy" but seems authentic enough. and the imax show there is really good also.
drinks are like 2 bucks for a small drink

When are you planning to visit, and what kind of venues are you looking to hit? Are you interested in really being a tourist? Germains Luau is always good to go once. Go to the Big Island for no more than 2 days for R&R and to go to the volcano park. Also, what kind of budget are you on? Are you interested in outdoor sports like scuba / parasail / surfing lessons etc? You can always check out digitalcity or speedhawaii.com for what's going on in racing.
