Vishnu vs. TurboXS

I need a chip so that I can have some sort of engine management (fuel really).

Please tell me the differences. Pro's/Con's of both. Does both have a plug and play (PRAY) harness available?

Am I able to disable some features... for example boost since i already own a boost controller...etc.

Thanks,

Jon

Dr. 18hr says read everything on these two sites www.vishnutuning.com and www.turboxs.com and call me in the morning

Personal thoughts Vishnu all the way. He tunes by map.

You don't need to use the boost controller built in the chip - in fact it's the same as you're doing now. You just let the factory ECU think it's controlling boost - but you unplugged your FBC solenoids so it's not doing anything.

The Unichip won't be able to control boost because you've already unplugged the FBC (which is the mechanism it uses + an auxiliary bleed or MBC in Vishnu's case to control boost).

No worries. :-)

Question

Just asking, I heard somewhere from someone that you guys actually went slower after Shiv tuned your cars. Any truth to that rumor?

I know that the UTEC has a PnP, and I haven't realized any problems with it, but Jayson said that his TXS Unichip harness was causing him problems and I have to assume that the Unichip harness is the same/similar to the UTEC.

After Shiv tuned his car, he opted for the Vishnu harness (I believe I've got my facts straight) which would give him fuel cut defense and little or no low rpm hesitation.

Is this the harness that Jayson was waiting on?

Perhaps at first, but I think the cars really needed to learn or re-learn the maps. Also a little race gas didn't hurt either. I went from a 13.8 to a 13.5 So not a complete loss, but nonetheless is $800 for a chip and harness worth 3/10th's

do you think you got 3/10's from ANY other single mod less the boost controller??
$800 is cheap for 3/10's after you've already done the basics.

Nah I just expected more.

Oh one benefit though of the chip was the improved mileage. So if anything even if you dont gain all that much in power, you can save money I added some 30 miles per tank.

no, you're not straight.
The pnp vishnu 'unichip harness' is a straight pass-through harness. No nothing. The TurboXS pnp harness has "other" features built in on the circuit board, such as the 'fuel cut defender'. Vishnu has another device out now for the fuel cut defender and 'hesitation' issue, the 'EMI adapter'.
Did Jayson order that?? I know he just got the MRT fuel cut defender.

Wow, .... so curious, how many miles do you generally get to a tank?

I would do a fill up with about $25 which is around 13 or so gallons.

Prior to the chip the gas light would come on at around 240-250 miles. after the chip I would go 270-280miles per tank before the light would come on.

My guess it's cause it's running so much leaner then stock in the upper RPM's.

Oh and I found I'd lose mileage if I ran less then stock boost. Like when I turn off my EBC for a week I'd go back down to 240 or so a tank. But perhaps the lack of power made me have a heavier foot.

Thumbs up

If I go this route, I'll get the vishnu chip!

I got 3/10ths from removing my cats... $30
don't think a boost controller would help me though.

Probably because I'm an RS guy talking in a WRX topic.

seriously though, 800 isn't too bad for 3/10. (@ $266per 1/10)
I'm going to pay 4400 for 20/10th (2 sec) @ $220 per 1/10
