minor surface that hasn't even bubbled over yet. go to your local auto store pick up some paint that will seal against rust and paint over it. or you can opt for the good stuff and get Por-15. but i think that would be over kill.

I have touch-up paint at home, is that good enough? Such an odd place for the paint to chip. :-(

I'm just wondering if it's a waste of time to take it in to Servco if they'll just go over it with touch-up paint. I bought the rust-protection from them though, so I think I should go in since I paid extra for that. Gah what a bummer my car that's not even a year old.

I cannot say if your touch up paint will seal against the oxygen in the air but i don't see why not. if you paid extra for the warranty then I say take it in and make it worth your money.

Either that or ask for your money back on the rust protection, since it doesn't seem to be working. Although, I'm not too sure what it was supposed to cover in the first place.

Ah, that's probably the source of your rust. I don't recall Matson have much protection in shipping cars as it is wide open in the sea. I know Horizon is covered shipping.

I'm still baffled at that particular spot having rust. Oh well, going there first thing in the morning.

Looked at my papers over again, I purchased underbody rust protection (That's still nice and not rusted). Read over subaru's rust policy and the service guy said they would most likely only cover if there was an actual hole or rusted through. Gave him my number and he said he would ask sales and give me an answer in a couple days.

So for the time being I just put a couple layers of touch up paint.

I recall reading somewhere that buying the rust protection is one of the ways that the dealerships just get extra money out of you. The car comes with a rust warranty from the carmaker already.

Either way, take it in to get it documented just in case the rust creeps up again...you can say that the dealership didn't properly fix it even when your warranty runs out.
