and most of us have done almost everything you could do to a subie, it really isn't that hard, just sometimes a pain in the *** (uppipes!)
yup heard that about import dynamics.

As for work, there's probably nothing that someone hasn't done here.
I laugh at that "being able to afford" statement. This cory guy for instance... or that sigterm guy... we have a few :P

I run in the shouldn't modify. The most care I have ever taken to install a part was on Haolepino STi yesterday night installing a new radiator. Such a clean job.

As Dave stated, "When Phil installs a part he goes off roading thru mud the next day. "

I personally would say ask someone on here to help you out with some of the installs like the turbo and fuel pump atleast. Matter of fact the injectors too. Youre gna need to rescale your ecu anyways, im sure someone with a tactrix on here would be willing to help you out with that. Saves you money, you meet more people and you can learn at the same time.
Not saying that locals can't afford subies, only saying the ones Ive ran into while working here have been in the military. As far as my ECU goes I'm at Stage2 with Torqued Performance. I have the next map ready for when I do my install but because of the damage the shipping company did to my car I'm just ordering parts for now. Plus the whole recon/safety inspection garbage to go through. And ya if anyone here on island has been wrenching on their scooby's for awhile I'll even pay for time and labor just for the knowledge learned from figuring out how to install things properly.

So don't get my post the wrong way because I don't favor honda's or toyotas. I used to own both.

As far as the "built not bought" Im a strong believer in built. This is my first subie and Im still learning everything I can even if I dont have all the tools yet.

Good way to intro yourself noob
Not what I said at all. This is my 2nd time here and I moved back because I have hawaiian family on the big island. Like I mentioned to the other post I want to learn as much as I can with mine since this is my first subie that I had been working on before I moved here. I tried 3 other forums asking for advice for subie owners for hawaii but didn't have any luck until I found this one when I got here. My perception of subie owner's here was limited to actually seeing for myself. I'll wrench with anyone on here that has time to help another which makes for more learning for me on my end.

and ya scooby's are the same price here and the mainland. Parts don't matter because most of us order online anyway. If I could I'd own another one but a 2005-07 STI and just GRX it for fun.

I admit I have a hate for honda's and toyota's since Ive owned both. To me nothing is more impressive then a boxer engine in a awd body.

So hate me or help me while I'm here. Just being honest.

BTW I do all my own work and would be willing to do a turbo and all supporting fueling mods as well on my own car.
This is parts list Im building for my Stage 3. Vf52 swap, Walboro Fuel Pump, ewg, my gauge pods with AEM Digital Boost and UEGO Air/Fuel guage, 850-1000c dw, and finding a topmount to keep the functionality of the hood.
If I had some tools and more experience besides forums and videos I would try myself but still new to the subie so any learning or help is key. My post has nothing to do with 'locals'. I don't care who is a subie owner, just looking for another subie community like I had before I moved back here.
Thx

Crap, I need to revise my statement on Import Dynamics.
they are not closing, just doing some restructuring and maybe moving.
he is one of the good subie mechanics, so i'm glad he's not leaving the industry. go to him when he gets set back up!

Going with the Vf52 swap because of the results Ive seen from other 08's owners on the dyno plus Im not ready to do the rotated turbo option yet. And I'm aware of other brands and types like synergy and the 20g etc. For my goals now Im just slowing building more on.
