need help understanding this code please

Code #: P0447. This is the summary the AP gives me:

Evaporative emission control system vent control ciruit open

I've restted the ECU twice already, thinking the CEL would go away but it just kept coming back. Need help peeps, I don't understand this.

TIA

Check the vent solenoid's electrical connection. (evap purge solenoid?)

Looks like from the thread impreza AL posted, sometimes the connection goes bad. If the connection is indeed good, the solenoid is bad and the vent solenoid may be open internally.

Usually a CEL dealing with "Open/High" is an open circuit (cut wire, bad connection, bad component)

and "Low" is shorted or grounded, etc. (bad component, wire shorted)

thanks, i almost forgot about that site. heh.. i'll check it out that wire in the morning.

ill take a wild guess...maybe someone can correct me or give better advice...

looking @ an 07 manual...it shows it hooked up to the charcoal cannister so im guessing that this is the purge solenoid to atmosphere. the main thing is that you dont have a code for a small or big evap leak detected, otherwise you might have to smoke test the system for a leak...

like pple said...its most likely the 1. the purge solenoid...
looking @ the wiring...one of the wires to the purge solenoid should have battery voltage...then the other wire will be ecm controlled / grounded...
if theres no battery voltage...then it could be a relay thats bad

The Evap code might be your gas cap or the evap solenoid under the manifold by the turbo inlet.

Nope.Only the p0457,p0456,p0442 codes have relation to an gas cap.

I agree with the p0447 code being a poor contact in harness from the ecm going to the purge/drain valve connector, poor contact to relay,or bad relay. Or it could just mean that the purge/drain valve,or relay needs changing.

OK,kool.... Gotta remember that.

thanks guys, i fixed it. one of the two wires spliced. i reconnected it by adding similar wire, i just have to buy some electrical tape to wrap it up. thanks again guys...

i'm having the same CEL and it started happening right after i filled up my gas tank. where is this solenoid located?
