Looking for info on Los Angeles area...

Looking for info on Los Angeles area...
We are moving to Cali in a couple months if not sooner and looking at the LA area, but want to live out a bit I guess. We know nothing about the area and just looking for suggestions on places to check out or to definitely stay away from since Im sure there are those. Some friends suggested San Dimas, West Covina, Cerritos, Pasadena, something like Glendoras.
Wife is looking for some place with some larger hospitals around for her Pharmacist employment and heck I'll just look around once we get there.
Any info from anyone is much appreciated.

San Dimas is ok but this is where I spent the 1st 17 1/2 years of my life Claremont, CA
It's the last city in LA county 40mins away from the beach, 30mins way from the Mountains. 5 mins away from Pomona drag strip 15 mins away from Cali raceway track.
