hey mehlt

got my tires in

225/45-17 v700s. shaved and heat cycled. damn, getting the tires shaved is awesome. looks like they had some people get crazy with a wood carving 1/4" blade. the tire now feels very sticky and the tread blocks look way more stable than the full tread. hopefully they won't chunk off anymore. should be mounted tomorrow on the SDRs. one thing to watch for is the wheel weights clearing the caliper. wes noticed that when we test fitted the rim.

see you next solo2. b

I was thinking about that the other day (weights clearing the caliper) Where did you end up getting the rims from?

I'll probably go with the Rota SDRs though the Tarmac II look nice too. I guess I better order both tires/rims in November so I can get them mounted and ready to go for January.

damn good question. i think i was too lazy to take the time to research what size would be the best. especially since there aren't many people posting up about autox tires for the sti.

Well, I'll let you guys know when I get my set of 255s. That may be a while though since our season ends at the end of the month and will start up again in feb/mar. Damn the winter!

One of the guys that runs an STi here has 255 V700s on SSR Type C's with a 50mm offset and 3.35mm spacers (which gets him at the max 1/4"=6.35mm offset limit). He is pretty good and went to nationals but the C4s dominated in the dry.

how wide are the type c's he uses?

the rims i am using are 17x7.5(just like OEM) and easily makes the offset limit.

From what I've been reading I think most people have problems trying to run 255s. Maybe you can get away with them at stock height but it seems you'll have rubbing problems at lower ride heights. But hey...you can always do some work in the wheelwells and you can run them without problems.....I mean doesnt Cobbs car have 285s or something around there?? With a widebody kit
