Got the ping.
Going on to H1 East tonight from Vineyard and I hear the tell tale BBz in a can sound at around 4K. So, my car pings.
Has anyone else in Hawaii had the same problem and got their ECU reflashed yet? Is Schuman able to do it locally or do I have to leave my car at the dealership for a few days? If so, that would suck big time!

I don't think they'll be able to help you with a reflashed ecu. I think you should talk to the place you got your ecu reflashed at!
Jon
Jon
Jon im guessing he has an STI, and he got audible det. And the supposed fix for it was to get the stock ECU reflashed.
I dont have an STI so I cant answer you as to how to really get it fixed. AFAIK there is no fix yet...could be wrong though

ECU reflash
I called Schuman and they said to call back in like 6 monthes for the STI ECU reflash I am kind of disappointed that it might take that long and my car also pings although it has only happened once. It didn't happen at all at the track day which I was getting it often so I'm not to worried about it.

In my experience it does it under certain conditions. In general a hard (WOT) redline pull from 2-3K RPM, in 2nd or 3rd gear, uphill will do it. I have gotten it on a flat surface, but not all the time.
I just don't do the above and really don't need too.
Ideally, it'll be easier to wait until Schuman has reflash capability, but you could still open a warrenty call and get it sooner though your car may be down for a while (waiting for you ECU to come back).

I got mine done back in July and it took 3 days to complete (here in WA). I am not sure what the deal is with Schumann since they are not under SOA though. I'd be pretty pissed if I had to wait to get my car reflashed. It sucked not being able to drive the car like I wanted to. You shouldn't have to worry about such things.

I've been hoping somewhere here would be the guinea pig

thanks for the info guys. i talked with Ed at Schuman today. It seemed like he wasn't aware that SOA had formally released an ECU reflash. I told him about the various forums I've read and how others in the mainland are getting their ECUs reflashed. he told me i should bring my car in to fill out a claim just to be on the safe side. then Schuman will follow up on how they will handle the problem. so i'm taking my car in tomorrow to do the paperwork.
