Closed Deck Option other than EJ22T
C&G Performance manufatures these supports. This is no secret in the sandrail biz. I wanted to try this prior to deciding on a full build up.
Just another option out there. Thought I'd share.

I think people seem to prefer the ej22t in Hawaii. At least that's the impression I felt from a handfull of guys I spoke to. I was trying to egg them into other options and revive some fab work discussions. Damn I miss Nolimit, Teiva Boy, Rexstang, ImprezaRSX, . . .
I have two guys in mind for my block build, one guy at Oceanside and the other at St. Louis. However, if I fall short on budget, I'll just pin deck some iron sleeves in.

Semi-closed works great for what I have now, but I plan to put a lot of cylinder pressure into my future block. Did I mention that I was going to sleeve them?

Aftermarket sleeves tend to sink, shift, or vibrate when not properly installed. I need the peace of mind that mine won't do that. That's why I wouldn't mind a closed deck or pin deck block.

semi closed is much better in terms of cooling right? and just exactly how much HP are you planning to achieve in yours? just curious- keep in mind that my previous knowledge is from old school iron blocks aka ford 302

Yes, there will be some hotter spots to the heads' surface with the added support covered with the closed deck. As long as the coolant passage holes are not covered by the added supports, there will be no cooling restrictions to the heads.
The supports will also retain heat along with the rest of the engine's internals, but it will also be cooled by the coolant. How much heat will they add? I'm not too certain on this, but I do know that when properly constructed, tuned, and maintained, engine failure seems to be less likely compared to a stock motor.
It is a key to choose the right material for the supports. One that will retain less heat and have a similar expansion rate as the block.
I would be more worried about iron sleeves having hot spots with a daily driven car that travels a lot. That is why I prefer a complete sleeve replacement so that it is cooled directly by the coolant.
Here is a pic of Payn's block. Pin decked and sleeves with direct contact with coolant. No cooling issues here and that sleeve won't have issues shifting.

i have a ej22T short block wasn't expensive at all
600 bucks now that i have a block i just need the rest of the cash to pay people i owe cash 1st
and then build it. I plane on stroking it to a 2.4 crawford is designing a stroker kit the 2.2 and then getting some new valve train to bump up the rev limit
