2nd Annual HIIC Spring time/Let's go get some Shrimp and Shave Ice Cruise
WHO: HIIC Members
WHAT: 2nd Annual HIIC Spring Time/Lets go get some Shrimp and Shave Ice Cruise
WHERE: Around the Island
Start point: Kakaako park
1st stop: China Man's Hat
2nd stop: Kahuku's (Lunch break at Shrimp shacks)
3rd and final stop: Haleiwa (shave ice stop)
WHEN: 19 April 2009 @ 9:00am meet up and Rollout @ 10:00am
WHY: Why not and because I said so.......
Things to think of prior to cruise:
-have cash (shrimp shacks only take cash)
-fill up your tank before coming out
-clean your car
-bring a camera
-bring water
-posted speed limits will be abided by with maximum of 5mph over to catch up.
-please maintain a safe following distance with the car in front of you. We had a very unfortunate mishap last year that I would not like to see happen again.
Disclaimer (me being real):
This is a kick back cruise, childish actions will be frowned upon and I will with the help of others belittle you every way possible. If you feel you need to do a burn out please do but do not continue on with us. Again I expect everyone to act like adults, THIS is not a kiddie cruise. This is more of a family event.
ROUTE
9:00am Meet at Kakaako Park
-10:00am Exit Kakaako Park head towards Ala Moana Blvd.
-left on Ala Moana Blvd
-right on Kalihi St.
-continue on Kalihi St. will turn into LikeLike Hwy (Hwy 63)
-after the tunnel stay in your right lane
-exit Kahekili Hwy on right (Hwy 83)
-continue straight on Kahekili Hwy
-Kahekili Hwy will turn into Kam Hwy
-turn right into China Man’s Hat (Kualoa Regional Park)
China Man’s Hat (Rest stop 30-40 min)
-Exit China Man’s Hat turn right onto Kam Hwy.
-continue down Kam Hwy till the town of Kahuku
-turn right at the Shrimp Shacks (we will park at the Old Kahuku Sugar Mill/gas station parking lot) there are atleast 4 different Shrimp shacks within walking distance, so please feel free to enjoy whichever you like.
Kahuku Shrimp Shacks (Lunch Break 60-90 Min)
-Exit Kahuku Shrimp Shacks turn right onto Kam Hwy.
-continue down Kam Hwy till the town of Haleiwa
-turn left at the street in front of Matusmoto's for parking (church/cemetary parking lot)
Haleiwa (Shave Ice stop)
-final stop for shave ice and talk story (whenever the last person leaves)
The only hard times are the roll out at Kakaako Park and the rough estimates at each stop. I encourage everyone to try and stay within the alloted times at each stop. Like anything in life we cannot plan for the unexpected and we will adjust fire accordingly.
If you see any mistakes in my route please let me know.
Finally I am looking for a few VOLUNTEERS please help out if you can:
Traffic Control- a certain gentleman did an outstanding job last year. maybe he would like to offer his services again???
Cruise lead- tasked with controlling the pace and lead us to all destinations
Asst. cruise leads (2 or 3)- tasked with being somewhere in the middle to lead in the middle to all destinations....yes our cruise will be that BIG
Cruise tailing party- tasked with ensuring we do not have any stragglers

I wouldn't mind bieng a "middle-of-the-pack" guy, but honestly, the route isn't complicated. It just looks that way when the directions are in writing! Really looking forward to this cruise, always love these things.

Hey Jess, I think you meant maximum of 5mph above the speed limit to catch up. Yes, I'm an azz and just had to point that out. Sounds like a lot of fun as usual. I hope we'll be able to make it out.......I just need any excuse to go and get some shrimp!
