1992 ss Build

Well all I have met a few of you and thought id share my build. pix will follow once i get them uploaded.

So heres what happened so far.....

1992 Legacy SS

New plugs, wires

Took apart all the wireharness cleaned all connectors and di-electrical greased them

2 new front Axles

2 new tierod ends

2 new Rack boots

Took the rack off and tore it apart and made sure all was in spec. / no leaks

Am building another intake for the car, the one that was on the car was all messed up....

New Oils

Put my 2004 WRX springs on to find out they made the car sit lower.... uber fail

Test fitted Mudflaps (waiting on strut spacers for final install)

Fixed Trunk latch

Checked o2 to make sure inspec

Have new Front brakes

Test fitted fog lights

Test fitted Rear Fog light

took out multiple random wires that went to nothing....

And thats about it, the car is quite peppy, has some random problems and cant seem to figure it out, such as car starts sometimes, the starter / ignition have a mind of its own give it a solid 5-15 min and shes golden lol. ABS light comes on and off, Check Engine light does the same i assume a short? but i cant find it, my electrical is very limited. And my window switch has a mind of its own. Other then that cars all good except waiting on these last parts, the car shall be sitting on stands for a bit until the parts come in from the mainland. I plan on welding up a Heatshield for the Turbo and also a box for the intake, will also be fabbing up some skidplates for Arms and fuel lines.

Sorry my post is kind of all over the place but if everything makes it here on time i should be at the next rallyx. I use to race track back in the mainland and since there is no track here i was like screw it lets get in to rally. Anyways i will get pix up once here soon.

corytomo 08-05-2012 12:18 AM

i went to look at that one a long while back. needed a lot of work, but had potential. glad to see you'll be restoring it back to good working condition!

some ideas for your lift. suspension tuning isn't what i call fun but it's worth it.

Yea i have been reading all of those forums many many times lol, im thinking KYB Adjustables revalved, with King springs, and STI tops or V7 STI struts and springs with group N tops.... But thats kinda a pricey route im taking with the guys at primitive to help me out.....

Deraj_53 08-05-2012 07:08 PM

You could go the cheap route and just get the king springs for the lift, tires is the biggest handling change you can make in the dirt. Grab a good set of rally tires and it'll make a big difference in grip.

Yea i was thinking the same thing lol, but sadly i have come to learn just do things the right way first that way you dont have to do the same job twice.... so im thinking KING springs and KYB G2's and some nice all terrains.... ive been talking to some of my buddies i know who rally and they have been giving me som input. Also the build is on hold at the moment because, well i am going back to work now sadly, and two i dont have any drill that can drill threw my bumper and support to mount the fog's.....
