upgrading a 1.8
I have a 95 impreza 1.8 awd 2door . Its still all engine (which isnt much). all Ive done so far is
weapon R intake
OBX can
custom cat-back
17in ADR Icons
Falcon rubber-205/40 7.5
Ground Controll coilovers w/
Eibach springs
-And the stereo-
Kenwood excelon mechanical mask deck
Excelon dualmag 6.5's in front and back
4channel excelon 400watt amp(interrior)
2 12in Kenwood D.B. subs
2chanel excelon 600watt amp(subs)
now after I rebuild my engine (I blew a crank bearing) I want to do a turbo upgrade, maybe.
Any suggestions on products, n/a or turbo I'm still not completely convinced to go turbo or stay n/a. ????????

that site is great! now, only if i had money....
im working on my 95 L right now, but i don't have as much stuff done to it as you do. i only have a cone filter adapter, 2.5RS wing, "I" emblem, and tanabe cat-back system. my next step is wheels and suspension, but like i said before, only if i had money!

I know what you mean, lol.. I've had my 2.5RS for a year, and I've only done the following to it. I wish I had more money to blow..
Ganzflow CAI w/ K&N Filter
Stromung Catback w/ Kartboy Hangers
Borla Headers
Kartboy Shifter w/ momo airleather & Wheelskins boot
Kuhmo Ecsta 712s
Whiteline Rear Diff lock kit
20MM FHI Rear Swaybar
Hawker 13 lb battery
Mr Josh's Pulley
PROECM Chip
Hella 500s w/ Kartboy PIAA Mounts
Smoked Headlights
Clear Sidemarkers
STI "I" Badge
Debadged
About 150 lbs removed
My next mods are blacking out the rear tailights, 20% tint, Cobb Spicy Cams, and an ACT Clutch and Exedy 9 lb flywheel.

this is off subject but it seems like all 95 awd imprezas have the small little 1.8 (like mine that will be swaped to 2.2 this summer)
but back on subject go turbo, that little 1.8 will never put out as much as a 2.2 or larger 2.5 will that is NA even if the 1.8 has high C.R. pistons

About 50-60 hours of labor to figure out the wiring, and that's if you get it right the first time. Figure 20 more everytime you connect something wrong and it fries.

from what i understand about the na 2.2 the ecu and maf sensor are needed to swap from 1.8 but the 2.2 turbo engine probably needs the new wiring harness so way not just put better internals in the na 2.2 and make it turbo because it would be alot easier that is if the whole harness is needed

this is a quote i found from a different forum where this guy allready did the ej18 to ej22t swap , what do ya think??
"actually you don't need to get an ECU or stand-alone system
I have been running a '93 EJ22T for almost 2 years on the '96 1.8L ECU. It runs rich, but the only error the computer throws is 'Idle control valve'. I runs strong and pulls all the way to the redline.
As for piggybacks you can use a S-AFC to even out the fuel and maybe an MSD ignition to raise the 6000 RPM redline of the 1.8 to the 6500 of the Legacy."
