Mines real obvious- inlet on pass. side, outlet on drivers side, about 2-3 inches toward the front of the car from the throttle plate. They run inline with each other, not sure if yours is the same or not. I don't have any MAP cable or anything in the way up there since I'm MAF with a short ram intake, so it'w pretty open in there.

I literally just bypassed it once with a 3/8", male/male brass fitting and put the hose clamps on the fitting, obviously. I didn't cap the ends of the t/b since I was told I could do this without problems and sometimes, my car idled from 1500-2200, but others it would run like normal where I definitely noticed some gains. Must have had something to do with those open ends

Hey Peaty,

Did you discover anything new while you were cleaning the air filter? Also curious if you got a chance to try your idea with the ball valve, etc.

Thanks

I took a good look at mine (MY02 2.5) It looks horrific to try something like a valve. No room at all, and I don't have the stock intake plastic around there either. Even trying to put a barbed fitting going into a small 1/8" ball valve and then barbed fitting again would mean serious space issues. I would like to do it eventually but I'm not sure about mine. Throttle Body Intake Temp Results

This graphs I'm about to post are of 'Ziggyrama' from the RS25.com site. Here's the thread:

Here is a graph with the before TB bypass mod intake temperature.

Here is a graph with the after TB bypass mod intake temperature.

Thoughts...comments?!

I'm betting the graphs were mapped at idle. As soon as you open the throttle, the "before" temps will drop until they are equal to the "after" temps (not sure of the RPM).
BTW- after bypassing (just a simple male to male piece of piping in place of the t/b) I couldn't find anything to re-plug the now open nipple ends at the t/b but when I asked PDM they said I could just leave it open- could this have screwed up my idle?
It did not hurt your idle (coolant, not air passage), but I plugged mine with 5/16" vacuum caps available at any parts store (I got mine in the "wierd fittings" section at Kragen).

to rallystortz about the valve

Im just curiouse why u would need to use a valve at all?. THe valve is only going to be ON or OFF rite? A small peice of rod "spliced" into the inlet side (a plug) will do the same thing rite?. I know it will be harder to reverse for winter than a valve but space shouldnt be an issue. If im wrong tell me so
