which kit are you going to use? what EM? and engine build ups?

KendallRS 01-11-2006 09:18 AM

I was un aware that a supercharger was even made for the GC's. How much and is it good?

Subaru_Master 01-14-2006 02:31 PM

I say go for it dude. Is easier to maintain than a Turbo kit an is unique cause almost nobody got it. And when you race against somebody you can always tell them you are NON-TURBO lol jaja and you will not be lying and still beating him cause you are supercharged jajajaja GOOD MASTER PLAN . Cons almost nobody makes them I think raptor supercharger make them for RS and Foresters but they located in Australia

w1ngzer0 01-26-2006 05:38 PM

well....i am seriously thinking about a supercharger. But then agian i think about "why?" I am making my impreza into a cornering machine.

Supercharger.... well... kind of up to you.

Imprezer 01-26-2006 06:13 PM

SC's are cool if they are done right.

reddevil 01-27-2006 12:28 AM

No kits. You have to do almost all the work yourself.

Here are some pics

Twin charge it. ;) You will get the best of both worlds...

Checkpoint 01-27-2006 08:26 AM

Do both.. now that will be cool. Then you can class yourself as Group B. If you find a kit post it.

idiponyou 01-28-2006 12:34 PM

i dont know man... i've been doing some research on a supercharger for my 99, but from what i understand, no one has really solved all the runability issues of a supercharger. i've heard a lot about blown motors with a sudden boost spike due to a miss shift. How bad would that be? Pulling through your gears, miss a shift, and blow your engine. Doesn't seem like something I want to get into personally. In my opinion, if you're looking for forced induction, I would stick to a turbocharger. The engine is better set up for that form of forced induction. If a supercharger is what you must have, I would suggest waiting until someone takes the time to do a higher mileage test. You need to go past the break in period to see if that's something that will work well with your setup. It also depends on what you're planning on doing with your car. A supercharger would work best for an autocross application giving you constant power through the whole powerband. If you're just looking for some bolt-on boost, turbo all day!

reddevil 01-28-2006 06:32 PM

There is no way a supercharger can give a "boost spike". Plain and simple.

Boost is boost. The motor could care less about how its boosted.

EDIT.....

Root style superchargers can't boost spike. The centrifical style, depending upon style and set up may be able to.

DesolationSuby 02-01-2006 11:47 PM

So to expand on this guys thread, as with a turbo, you would have to do major rebuild work to your engine in order for this to last correct? or could you just get your super and bolt it on (essentially) so it works, and run it with a low boost and be good to go? I am lookin for like 250 horsepower, is this a viable option with a 2.2l?

reddevil 02-02-2006 10:09 PM

For a 2.2 liter, Anything over 5 psi NEEDS some sort of EM to pull timing and some way to add fuel. Anything over 8-10 psi NEEDS lower compression pistons to be safe.

250 bhp on a 2.2 is 14-20 psi, depending upon heads.
250 whp on a 2.2 is 17-22 psi depening upon heads.

I am making 155 whp and 175 torque at 9 psi and 370 cc injectors and stock 1990 heads. I am using a Perfect Power SMT6 to pull about 8 degrees of timing at redline.

DesolationSuby 02-02-2006 11:07 PM

So if I do like 5 psi with some injectors and stock heads with a super is that possible to maintain stable? Pardon my newbie question, what do you mean when you say EM?

reddevil 02-02-2006 11:48 PM

Engine management.

5 psi totally easy and good.

What year is your rig?
