Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Open Down Pipe?

Hello all. I come to you with a noob question.

Unfortunately I will be selling my 02 2.5rs in the next few weeks and this weekend I plan on jacking her up to rotate my tires. I thought as a "going out celebration" I would remove everything after the headers and let her breath and rumble clearly for a day or two before I just put everything back together.

Anyone have experience with basically an "open downpipe" on an bugeye rs?

Things I'm concerned about:

-Flames shooting out and literally burning my *** and melting the underside
-Issues with the 2nd o2 sensor since it will be removed
-Over all ecu problems(no back pressure/engine doesn't run well)

Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks!

It will be loud... repeat, loud. I swapped exhausts with a guy once and we gave the car a listen uncorked, just light revs in the driveway, and it's not subtle. Tractors, buses, and big rigs are far quieter.

That and the problems you mentioned.

The noise is not a problem. It will only be for a fun weekend. I just wanted to make sure I didnt make any permanent damage to the car.

Can't speak to those problems personally, but I think you're in the right direction so far as worrying about potential problems. I personally wouldn't go for more than a few blocks with an open dump. YMMV as it were, of course.

Indeed. I think I might end up just removing everything after the second cat. Which is still resonator and muffler so I'll still get some loud results while having my engine still run OK.

You mean the Indian engineer who sings at 1am every night? His songs could use a little bass.
