Oil Pan swap questions!

Hello all,

Well I have a 99 RS and I am about to swap out the oil pan on it. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with swapping the pan, and if so then maybe they could give me some pointers as to how to go about it. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!

Well after examining the pan more closely on my car, I now have 2 specific questions.

1) How do I get the 2 rear bolts out. All the other bolts are easily accessible, but those back 2 I don't think I can get too. Is there a way to get em off without removing all the suspension parts that are blocking them?

2) Is it necessary to install a gasket between the pan and where it mates to on the car? Or does the subaru not have this design?

Thanks again!

Why? Is it all bashed up? I don't get it.

As far as gasket, call the dealer and ask how much the oil pan gasket is for you car. If they have a price, then yes, you need one.

Rear two bolts. Without looking, I'd say undo your engine mounts (two nuts through the bottom of that front sub-frame) and lift your engine using a hoist. A couple inches should do it.
