2005 Impreza RS 2.5 need performance upgrades

I recently just got a brand new 2005 subaru impreza 2.5 RS with the sports package. I love the car, blows my old 2001 camary CE out of the water. I was wondering if there are any performace upgrades for this particualr model be it a cold air intake or sti spoiler. Have owned this car for one month. Any information would be apperciated.

i have the same car in crystal grey metallic. all the exhuast upgrades will work. i have a complete exhuast on my car now. i also traded trunks with an sti... there arent any CAI for the 2005 yet becasue it switched back to MAF. Cobb is coming out with one this winter though. suspension upgrades will correlate with wrx upgrades.. yeah any thing u want to knwo jsut ask.

I also have the same paint color on mine ,looks alot better than the basic silver. I have a two part quesiton, i was wondering would subaru find out and would it void the warranty if i switched over to 0W-30 for second oil change from the 5W-30 Valvline sytentic i used. The winters in New England suck big time. Do you know of any new light blub upgrades out there be it hid or some sort of blue. I'd like to replace the stock whites to something nice bright and blue thats also street legal.

You'd have to check your state laws on the color of the lights but some PIAA Super Xtreme bulbs. 4200K low beam, 3950K high beam. I'd also say to check your owner's manual on the oil b/c the weather conditions may warrant that.

when you say "all the exhaust upgrades will work", do you mean exhaust kits for 2000-2003 2.5's will work with the 2004 or 2005 model? i've been looking for a exhaust kit for a 2004 2.5 TS but i cant find any kits made for that year. help would be appreciated.

Well for exhaust there are two raods you can take -
1. have one made at a local muffler shop probaly run you 250- 400 bucks depending on the muffler and pipes, plus where you live.

-or-

2. look for exhausts for older 2.5's - I have talked to a Subaru mechanic and he said most of the exhausts are the same layout but the hanger locations may be a little off. You just have to bend them a little to make the exhaust fit properly.

I have a 2004 2.5ts and I am looking at getting the Borla exhaust from the 97-00 2.5.

Greddy and HKS aslo make cat-back systems for the 96-2000 2.5 as well as Cobb Tuning. Also BPM performance (Australia) makes a nice looking exhaust for the 2.5 but they are harder to find in the U.S. Here are a few links:

the second hanger will need to be bended if u get like a greddy evo, apexi n1, and a couple more. stromung exhaust (what i have) work for our car. i think scoobysport and cobb also work.

suspension

So for suspension upgrades on the 2005 RS sedan, I could use absolutely ANY suspension spring, shock, or coilover system that was intended/stated for use with a 2004+ WRX?

I was thinking maybe something like SPT springs or STi Pink Springs on Stock shocks. Any opinions?

I am also into looking for the STi JDM Front Lip Spoiler for my 2005 2.5 RS sedan. Anyone know if it's a direct bolt on and absolutely NO mods to do?

Thanks.

can you do this??

can you put a top mount intercooler and a front mount intercooler or would there not be enough room??

Impreza05 04-02-2006 09:35 PM

I think Injen is making a CAI for our 05 RS's.

Since we're on NA section, i'll assume you got a turbo'd NA and yes with some trimming for front mounted ones then, prolly brackets for topmounts.

Can't have both, at the same time.
...maybe, i'm not sure, but then why would you?

Cosmetic? Pleeeeease, don't go there..........

so is there anything wrong with the AVO kit?

UgLiEz 04-20-2006 07:39 PM

look guys, we're all in the same boat as far as performance upgrades are concerned. ECU, EXHAUST, INTAKE, TUNING, is about all the easy bolt on stuff that we can do (besides tuning of course. that's for mike at gruppe-s.) But then we come to internals. Cam's are a good option. From what i've heard, cams-headers (with all new exhaust piping), intake-ecu-and some tuning can get us up close to a wrx as far as hp. Not exactly the same power as a WRX but pretty close.

Of course it's all our dream to have a VERY VERY fast RS, but I would rather have a good performing all motor car then a stupid fast WRX that I'll probably kill myself in. Plus I'm a big appearance guy.

BTW i've got a 05 CGM RS with an STi trunk. IF anyone with a CGM RS wants to trade and are somewhere in the vicinity on the Bay Area shoot me a PM if your interested.

Keep the N/A pride goin guys, I'm ordering my Headers and midpipe when i get back from vacation in 2 days.
