2.0L twin tubo swap???

well first hello everyone. my friend has a 96' subaru impreza with a stock 1.8L. he is looking to turbo his car but instead of piecing together a junkyard turbo setup he looking at purchasing the jdm 2.0L TT. he found a complete front clip from a company in texas for $1300 shipped. what i'm wondering is if anyone has experience with this swap or if anyone knows of a site i can get some more research from before we get in too deep. thanks in advance. any help will be greatly appreciated.

From what I know it will be tought. Wiring alone will probably make this swap nearly impossiblle. Then the OEM up/downpipe/turbos will hit things on your LHD Impreza since the engine assy is huge with 2 turbo's and things will get in the way. Steeering shaft, on the driver's side for sure.

However, it has been done. Some custom fabrication will need to be done. But, I would first see if you can do the wiring.

I don't think there is a write up. The reason those motors are around and so cheap is because lots of dune buggy guys are using it. I don't think there is a write up on normal Subaru swap.

ok thanks for your time. i hope we don't run into any major problem but i'm sure we'll figure it out if it arises. i'll have to take some pics of the swap and maybe do a write up after it all said and done. maybe it will shine some light on this swap and give someone else insight into doing the swap themselves.

pk well here's the udate as of today. we're waiting on the motor to come found out that it is an automatic. how much of a problem is this to fix? could you use an automatic ecu for a manual setup? if not what ecu would be recommend for this setup? thanks in advance.
