New guy here!

Yo whatup?

I just bought a white 05 sti and wanted info about engine managments sytems. I know there are 3 major ones. I want to put on a few mods but want to do it right. I want an intake and blow off valve. I dont need a super loud one but effective. What's the difference between a blow off valve and by-pass valve? The car has an exhaust already but I want to get some ish for x-mas. Suggestions?

Ive never owned a turbo car. prev. was a 97 Audi A4 2.8L V6 quattro. I miss quattro. But the power is finally here. do i need a turbo timer? how tough is a boost gauge to install?

Thx!

The search option can do wonders. Some people will say that intakes are worthless although I love the sound. If you are to get an intaked I'd reccomend the ARC intake box.

Difference between a bypass and BOV is that the stock bypass recirculates some of the air. Where as most BOV's are 100% atmospheric (it doesn't recirculate any air). HKS makes a nice one that many people have had good experiences with and don't leak at idle.

If this is your first Turbo car, take the time to do some research. Vishnu has a good "Stage" upgrade path (XEDE EM and Turbo Back Exhaust) Turbo XS, UTEC, COBB and Element Tuning are also very good. It seems like you live in Cali so that might be a good option for you.

I have "heard" that the STi's have some sort of system that keeps coolant circulating over the turbo after we shut off the car. DO NOT quote me on that one. Unless you are driving really hard and shut off your car you shouldn't need a turbo timer. I always take it really easyfor the last leg of my destination and I idle it when I'm doing my final preps before exiting the vehicle (ie: checkin hair, getting items out of trunk).

With the boost guage, do a search. I got mine as a factory package.

As with your existing exhaust, it's probably a cat back and you could fetch some $$ out of it if you want something else.

Hope this helps.

Car Info: Sold my 05 Evo...Carless for a while...then 05' WRB STi whenever lol :(
if you want an intake get the K&N
BOV-greddy type s or HKS RECIRC BOV ONLY!!!
you can do Engine management, TBE and headers...dont forget the fuel pump and dyno tuning

STi's dont need turbo timers
installing a boost gauge is not hard...just takes time
