I have it and i love it, i bought it after my friend put it on his car and put it on the K&N dyno and made 12hp in 100 degree weather. Great Intake in my opinion.

Save your money. Intakes including the K&N generally don't add any power on factory turbo cars because the factory airbox is not a restriction at near stock power levels.

In my WRX, I don't even use the K&N replacement filter in the stock airbox because it is more restrictive than the factory disposable paper element. The reason for this is because the factory element has many more folded pleats for much greater effective surface area. The way the K&N is constructed is very high quality but in a Subaru replacement panel filter it just can't fit enough pleats in such a small area.

I've used K&N filters in the past and while they work great on carbureted vehicles, I don't like the hassle of cleaning and re-oiling the element because it's easy to over-oil and foul up the MAF sensor if you're not experienced with these filters.

Thanks for posting that linked thread. That's exactly the sort of documented comparison we need to see.

I would love to see some flow bench numbers. I find that hard to believe. It would be a great shoot out to take a Typhoon, stock box, stock w/ k&n and another brand CIA and put them all on a flow bench and see the true CFM gains. Although CFM and actual power gain are two different things.
I dont know.... just a thought.

oiled filters such as K&N shouldn't be used with modern hot-film MAF sensors that are in our cars.

I had this problem on my old '02 wrx, the oil was making my MAF go nuts.

uh, ITG and Zerosports filters are foam, not paper.

the JDM STi filter I use is cotton, not paper.

K&N's are cotton or some other fiber cloth, and YES, they are oiled, I've been around them long enough.

I read about this too in Import Tuner Magazine that the "new" K & N typoon adds up HP to WRX STI.

My question is that.... does this filter works the same with the regular WRX ( non-STI)?

I know K & N filters are good but it this really true for WRXs?
