HP and torque Expectations with Blouch 1.5XTR

Hey,

I am days away from doing a Blouch 1.5XTR turbo upgrade. However, when I asked the tuner what kind of numbers I will produce, they were a lot lower then what I expected. My questions are thus:
  1. Is anyone running a similar set-up?
  2. What kind of numbers, in terms of HP and torque, have you produced?
  3. What model was the DYNO on which your car was tuned?
Even if you are not running Meth Injection, please provide your numbers. If you are running E85, please post your numbers with and with out. I am using this info as part of my research for this upgrade and I'm also trying to determine if I am using the right tuner, so, please be as detailed as possible with your response.

Thanks man!
I really appreciate any and all responses. Here is my current setup and the modifications I will make with the turbo upgrade:

2006 STI
My current set-up:
- 3" COBB exhaust
- COBB Downpipe
- Tomei Up-Pipe
- Tomei/GT Header (wrapped)
- Rebuilt Short Block with JE Pistons
- Complete Valve Job on both heads
- Aquamist HFS-4 Meth Injection System
- Pro-Tuned

- Stock TMIC
- Stock VF39

The work that I will have done includes:
- Blouch Dominator 1.5 XTR turbo
- Injector Dynamics 1000cc fuel injectors
- Tomei Type-S fuel pressure regulator
- Tomei 1/8 NPT elbow fuel fitting
- MAW composite TGV delete for metal intake manifolds
- MSI 2006+ WRX fuel rails
- MSI Subaru remote mount fuel regulator kit
- Tomei fuel pressure regulator gauge
- Deatschwerks 300+Liter Per Hour In-Tank
- MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER REV2
- Tomei turbo inlet hose for 02-13 WRX/STI

Once I receive a few posts, I will provide the numbers of my current setup, the type of DYNO and what I was quoted by the tuner, in terms of HP/Torque. I don't want any responses to be influenced by what was quoted from the tuner. I'm only writing this because I want to evaluate and research whether I am using the right tuner or not. Annnnd...if another tuner can get me better results. Thanks for any input.

I have a somewhat similar set up. I'll limit my list to the mods that affect power levels.

SPT short ram, modified to be shorter with a Green Filter on it
silicone turbo inlet
APS SR40 turbo (which is similar to a PE1820) ~44lb/min peak flow
CSS (eBay) bar & plate style intercooler w/heat dispersant coating
1000cc Injector Dynamics in ported & polished/deleted TGVs, walbro 255lph in-tank pump
EJ205 heads with STI cams (no AVCS)
100mm JE hybrid pistons on STI rods
STI block/crank
OEM exhaust manifolds and up-pipe ported & polished
EQ tuning exhaust manifold cross-pipe
3-port GM boost control solenoid
Helix bellmouth downpipe
Borla Hush 3" cat-back

I also have some lightweight drivetrain bits like an APS Super Damper crank pulley, aluminum alternator and PS pump pulleys, a 12lb chromoly flywheel, and DBA5000 rotors which might affect response time on/off throttle.

I asked to keep the peak power limited to ~300 and spool to a safe speed. I believe that this configuration is capable of another ~50WHP, but I doubt my 5 speed would keep up for very long. The tuner informed me that the MAF voltage was around 4.7 (out of 5v max) so my next step up in power will likely require a larger MAF housing.

The red line on this chart is the built motor with the stock TD04 turbo and catless downpipe
The blue line is the built motor with the APS SR40 and a Magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter ADDED to the previously catless downpipe.

The print out has the dyno information, its a pair of DynaPack 4000 and 2000 together. Done at Church Automotive Testing in Wilmington, CA.

Your best option is to consult your tuner. I'm sure they'll have the best estimate for your power levels with your mods. If I were to guess, maybe ~320WHP/330WTQ on 91OCT and ~360WHP/360WTQ on 91OCT with 50/50 meth (+-20WHP depending on how aggressive you want your tune to be.)

Why give advice if you're not going to bother to read the whole question?

He doesn't trust his tuner so he is looking for empirical data from similar setups to compare his results to. Your guess doesn't provide him with any evidence to do that.

Consulting the tuner regarding his competency is a silly thing to do. He has no motivation to reveal any shortcomings that he may or may not be aware of.

You are right, I did not read his question completely. I simply answered the question in the title. If OP is looking for results, a simple Google search would be much easier. Here are some results I found with fairly similar mods. Hopefully this will help you more than my previous post.

2006 STi with super aggressive tune on stock block. Original thread here.
Dyno Info: Mustang Dyno

Peak Torque at RPM: 411WTQ @ 4300RPM E85, 350WTQ @ 4400RPM 93OCT
Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: 235WHP
Target Boost:23 on e85 19 on pump

2006 STi with stock block. Original thread here.
348hp/353tq on 93 and 398hp/393tq on E85 on Dynojet.

2011 STi with built block stock heads. Original thread here.
Dyno Info: Dynojet
Peak HP at RPM:
410.40 Whp @ 27.26lb of boost SAE Uncorrected. (MS109)
391.94whp @ 21.86lb of boost SAE Uncorrected. (93 pump)
Peak Torque at RPM:
475.56tq SAE Uncorrected. (MS109)

Thanks for the info guys! The numbers my tuner is quoting after the upgrade seem a little low in comparison:

Dynometer: Mustang
HP: Around 320-330@ 19psi
Torque: Around 330
Price for the work is $6150

I know there are variances between Dynos but the numbers seem relatively low and the numbers are an estimation with Meth. Do either of you know if the Mustang typically measures lower than other Dynometers? I'm currently searching for threads and via Google in that regard...I am strongly considering alternatives because I use the car on the track and for Auto-X and want the best I can get!

Cheers,

A couple of tuners in the area are known to have "heartbreak" dynos
Imho don't let numbers get the best of you, they don't prove much

I can attest to the FLI dyno being a heart breaker of sorts. My numbers are about 25-30 hp lower than a bugeye I run even with. he was tuned at EQ.
That being said, Chris A (Wrb 2012 sti) recently put down something close to 320whp on his stock Turbo, El header, Cobb sri, and downpipe.
I still don't quite understand that lol.

From what I have heard you can get similar response time and alot more power out of the dom 3.0 xtr which I have and was tuned side by side with a car on similar mods my curve was identical but just alot taller.

Good luck
