Hardline Melting/Punctured Upper Radiator Hose
 

I am just wondering if anyone has had this issue? I tried to do some searches and could not find any results.

On Friday I was leaving work to go to another work function when I started to overheat. I pulled over right away, turned off the engine, popped the hood and noticed coolant everywhere. Turns out the Hard Line on the radiator had melted into my upper hose while the bracket punctured a hole into the hose, thus finally causing it to fail.

I am not sure how long the hose had been melting like this, my estimates is this happened within a few minutes and had not been an issue before.

I was able to get a ride over to Subaru and pick a new hose, some 50/50, and replaced the hose. However just has me wondering when this will occur again.

I am going to try to protect the hose by putting some heat shield on the hard line.

try running some heat wrap around it, even some aluminum foil should work out fine.
