2008 Forester build - what else should i do while replacing shortblock?

08 forester xt 5spd - vf39, sti intercooler, 3 port, cobb dp, whisper exhaust, accessport tuned 263hp/283tq at the wheels

long story short: overheated car, replaced head gasket and machined head/valves and did 105k service. car is still overheating so i'm told it's the block. relocated to sacramento recently so i'm most likely doing a built block from fw motorsports when time permits.

my question is what else should i do when it goes under? i assume clutch since even though it's not slipping it's been 3 years (anything recommended over stock?). any other recommendations? intake manifold, hard inlet pipe, fuel pump, injectors, better intercooler? any help in planning this build is much appreciated!

want it to be fast and reliable

What is your power goal? I have been down your route recently and I went down the rabbit hole went down fast.

If you were doing just stock power mods I would get the injectors cleaned and get turbo serviced. Or upgrade it but that opens the door for all supporting mods. And there is no good tuners in the Bay Area that I have found.
