I think what your describing is just the effects of the turbo. I remember before I got my bov, letting off the gas at high rpm would actually make the car go faster.. since installing the bov letting off the gas just makes a pssshht sound and the car slows down.

I don't mean to be an a$$ but any manual transmission car does that. You are directly linked to the engine buddy, this is no automatic. If you are at that high RPM in second and let off the gas suddenly of course you are gonna lurch forward! What do you expect? Is this your first manual transmission car? Well actually to cool down my flaming a bit , in all fairness, it is a lot more pronounced in the WRX. This is because of the fact that it is AWD. More rotating mass (essentially 5 drive shafts if you want to look at it that way) means more opportunity for that driveline "******" as you described... So yeah, get used to it and learn to be more smooth with releasing the throttle in those cases, or get on the brakes quicker to help out the engine with braking before you get that lurch... Anyway congrats and goodluck with the new car, however you shouldn't be going over 4,000 RPM for 1000 miles... Read your owners manual buddy. It's your friend.

Code Red, I don't experience any sort of noticeable lurching in my WRX upon deceleration from higher RPM. This doesn't sound like normal drivetrain behavior to me. Maybe you should schedule an appointment for service and demonstrate when the lurching action occurs.

You're a funny little guy... Anyway my opinion, take it or leave it, is that it's normal driveline behaviour. If you've had so much experience with cars (especially with the RX-7) I would think you would break your car in properly... Take it in at 1000 if it makes you feel better but my bet is they will tell you it's normal...

kman I dunno if you guys are talking about the same thing.

codered are you talking about disengaging the engine or just taking your foot off the gas? if your rolling with no throttle and spinning your driveline (engaged) you will roll faster when you push in the clutch, but thats common sense. I thought what you were describing was the boosty feeling when letting off the gas but still in gear. I know that's related to the recirculation valve and is normal.. and if you don't like it, a bov makes it go away.

the car doesn't have a bov stock. it has a recirculation valve, which is better than a bov as far as performance is concerned (at least with the stock turbo). the side effect of a bov is that that extra boost from coming off the throttle gets spit out your intercooler

BMW M6

Is this a typo? The six series is brand new. In their first year of release they will only come in autos and there is no M model just yet.
