WRX Lurching after long pulls n 2nd?

Hello All,
I just bougt an o4 wagon and I am thrilled. Though while out running my buddy around on the back burners today I felt something I did not like! After a long accelerating pull in 2nd to about 6000 rpm I let off the throttle suddenly for the break point for an up coming bend and the car lurched or bucked 1 time before the engine breaking settled in. It did it again moments later in the same exact condition?????? Any other people ever experience this? The car only has 250 miles on it and this seems unacceptable being I am quite a spirited driver! Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated!

I think what your describing is just the effects of the turbo. I remember before I got my bov, letting off the gas at high rpm would actually make the car go faster.. since installing the bov letting off the gas just makes a pssshht sound and the car slows down.

I don't mean to be an a$$ but any manual transmission car does that. You are directly linked to the engine buddy, this is no automatic. If you are at that high RPM in second and let off the gas suddenly of course you are gonna lurch forward! What do you expect? Is this your first manual transmission car? Well actually to cool down my flaming a bit , in all fairness, it is a lot more pronounced in the WRX. This is because of the fact that it is AWD. More rotating mass (essentially 5 drive shafts if you want to look at it that way) means more opportunity for that driveline "******" as you described... So yeah, get used to it and learn to be more smooth with releasing the throttle in those cases, or get on the brakes quicker to help out the engine with braking before you get that lurch... Anyway congrats and goodluck with the new car, however you shouldn't be going over 4,000 RPM for 1000 miles... Read your owners manual buddy. It's your friend.

I read the manual, It's my car I'll deal with the consiquences! As far as this car being my first stick, come on pal!!! The lurching or bucking i'm feeling I've never felt in any of my cars before, Audi 5000Q, Audi 4000, BMW M6, Mazda Protage, Vovlo 142, Mazda rx7 twin turbo , all sticks. So as you can see plenty of veriety, 4 wheel 2 wheel front or rear drive. So next time someone decides to bark be careful you may get your choke collar pulled!

Code Red, I don't experience any sort of noticeable lurching in my WRX upon deceleration from higher RPM. This doesn't sound like normal drivetrain behavior to me. Maybe you should schedule an appointment for service and demonstrate when the lurching action occurs.

kman I dunno if you guys are talking about the same thing.
codered are you talking about disengaging the engine or just taking your foot off the gas? if your rolling with no throttle and spinning your driveline (engaged) you will roll faster when you push in the clutch, but thats common sense. I thought what you were describing was the boosty feeling when letting off the gas but still in gear. I know that's related to the recirculation valve and is normal.. and if you don't like it, a bov makes it go away.

dont know how changing the blow off valve would make it go away? the cars stock blow off valve is almost as good as you could get. especially since the car is still stock or at least better be with only 250 miles on it. IF you would have read your manual you would see that you are saposed to keep it below 5k for the first 1000 miles for break in. Well gess you didnt. lol. well anyway i would take it in to a dealer to have them look at it anyway. if they say that it is normal it didnt hurt anything now did it.
the car doesn't have a bov stock. it has a recirculation valve, which is better than a bov as far as performance is concerned (at least with the stock turbo). the side effect of a bov is that that extra boost from coming off the throttle gets spit out your intercooler
