TD05H-EVO III Big 16G Turbo

Does anybody have any experience with this turbo?

I'm going to make an investment in this soon because I've read good reviews and it's good for my goal 300WHP and such, but i wanted to see what you guys think?

thanks!

Yeah, I would get it tuned by GST but I'm not too worried about exactly 300WHP. I know my supporting mods will be get close but around that area is good enough for me.

I think someone said they had it crack before, but that might've been their VF39 since I heard the stock STI turbos are prone to cracking.

I was going to get the blouch td05 16G because that was the cheapest i could find but their evo3 big 16 is only like $200 more and puts out quite more power so I figured why not

yeah its a great turbo, makes a little more power than the vf's but is a lot better top end-wise, on gst's dyno depending on your mods it'll get you around 250ish-270ish with a lot of usable power till the end, it's a great turbo for daily driving

Yeah, my girl is my daily driver so I think whatever true power gains I get with the evo3 16G will be more than suitable for my needs. i emailed gst a couple days ago and mike said the big 16G would be good for about 270-280, so i think ill be happy with whatever i can squeeze out

i know ill need to get atleast 650CC injectors or maybe 700? is there anything else i need to support the new turbo setup? i have 255 walbro fuel pump and upgraded pickup tube, sti oil pump and pan for my new headers. what else would i need?

I would go slightly bigger and tune less boost and timing.
The turbo will not be overworked and the lower timing will give you a larger margin for error.
300WHP on GST's dyno I would run 20G with less boost and 800cc injectors.

I forgot to mention, I'll also be getting an E85 tune as well, so I'll be a little over 300WHP, lol...

also, rather than me making a new threat i'll ask my question here and hopefully someone replies.

i just received my new headers. just wondering, when i replace my OEM headers with my new ones, will i have to purchase all new nuts and bolts for the attachment, or can i just use the originals? my tech friend from subaru said i should get 3 new ones for the headers to uppipe, or something like that. what do you guys think?

I have a TD05 16G set-up that i drive daily.. Tuned by GST. check my set up.
I make 271whp/245tq @ 19psi with the Standard td05 16g.
So 270-280whp at GST with a BIG16g is very possible.

As well as, you dont NEED to go bigger than 650cc injectors most run PINKS with 16g's. 650's will even be sufficient for basic 18g setups. BUT 650's are nice to have the head room for the tuner or possibility to swap a bigger turbo later

https://www.i-club.com/forums/bay-area-15/just-thought-id-share-196046/

(i'll try to re-load my dyno charts)

As for the headers, the OEM's should work fine. NEW is just nice to have.

You got some nice numbers on your dyno man. Props to GST; I've had my car dynotuned by them a couple months ago. Mike did an awesome job extracting some more power.

I have some parts that need to be installed before I go E85 tune and they include the Deatschwerks 1300cc Injectors. I got the larger injectors to handle the E85 in preparation for a larger turbo upgrade and larger intercooler in the future (might as well get the injectors out of the way), that way all Id really need is the turbo itself and a larger intercooler

I'm gonna stay with this setup and get an E85 tune from GST or EQ. I am going with the EVO3 Big 16G in the future, so I am going to get all my parts installed, make my way over to either GST or EQ and get E85 tuned! I know I won't be pushing my max with the stock td04, but I'm tight on money now, especially i just dished out $1000+ on injectors and clutch kit. turbo and intercooler in the future!

Instead of E85, I'm actually considering just staying with 91 because of the scarcity of E85 around here. If I do, I might get the MHI 18G turbo from Speed Element since it's cheaper and fits my budget but IDK yet. I think I'll keep my 1300cc injectors if I ever decide to get a bigger turbo in the future.

Those of you who are tuned on E85, can you guys do me a big favor and let me know how many miles you get on your tank before you have to refill and how often and how much you spend? I wanna do the calculations before I make my final decision to switch over

An evo 3 16G is a great street turbo no doubt. If your running E85 with an ewg you'll love it even more! Very fast spool and good top end.

I've read that an EWG isn't really necessary, nice to have on but necessary. Is that true? Isn't the EVO3 16G already internally gated?

Also, do you think an STI TMIC will suffice or should I look into getting a larger one like turbo xs?'

thanks for your input!

correct. EWG on a 16g even 18g is not necessary. the IWG is good enough and theres also IWG upgrades.

Also STI TMIC will do fine for budget builds, but its nice to have the aftermarket ones if you can afford the extra. Aftermarket is quite a bit bigger than STI

And I'm with 04caliwrx. why not go bigger? 18g is still a great street turbo on 2.0L and the extra power is even better. TRUST ME.. with a 16g youre just gonna want to go bigger sooner down the road. I've got my 16g and want to bump up to the 20g now..
