Max Hp On 03 Wrx

How Much Hp Can A Wrx Engine Handle ? Right Now I Have About 265 At The Wheels If I Believe;thanx

blue blurr Oct 13, 2005 09:58 PM

You could probably boost 20psi with 100octane.

I have seen 2.0 racing engines that push about 600hp. Vishnu has a 360hp package for the 2.0

265 at the wheels ? What have you done to it so far ?

the real question would be how much money are you willing to drop into the motor?

Ricer-X Oct 25, 2005 03:28 PM

^^^^ Agreed. Things seem to start letting go after 300whp as far as stock internals/tranny is concerned. That's not true for everybody, but on the average.

Currently, I'm running 395 wheel HP with stock internals on my 2002 WRX. The clutch can't handle it all the time, slipping on occasion. A new clutch will be my next upgrade.

What have you done to get that much horsepower out of stock internals? I am always looking for ways to get more out of my Vishnu stage 2.

I'm guessing that the water injection has a little something to do with that. It really seems to help extend the life of the stock pistons from what I've gathered. Nice set up. How do you like the SR55?

Which dyno did you use?

bigedscycles Dec 15, 2005 07:48 AM

Dyno Type

I believe it was a DYNOmite Chassis Dynamometer. I'm looking at my dyno print out and it is actually 391.1 HP with 325.1 ft-lb of torque.

Sr55

On my stock 2.0 engine, there is a lot of turbo lag. At about 5500 RPMS the turbo pulls very hard to about redline. I'm probably going to upgrade my 2.0 to a 2.5 next fall which will hopefully help me reach full boost sooner. The alcohol/water injection allows me to run a lot more boost, about 25 psi. Without alcohol/water injection I only dynoed at 325 HP at the wheels at about 18 pounds of boost.

Dyno Recalibration

My dyno results from my initial printout were wrong, the dyno was incorrectly calibrated from the company. My new results are 360.7 WHP with 320 ft-lb of torque. I did some minor moods since my last tuning, to include APS tumbler deletes and new clutch that allowed for a complete tuning (without clutch slippage).
