HELP!! Autometer A/F guage not compatible with 2002 WRX wide band O2 sensor??
HELP!! Autometer A/F guage not compatible with 2002 WRX wide band O2 sensor??
----------------------------
I just got everything installed with the boost guage and A/F guage in the pod, but now the A/F meter wiring doesn't hook up with the O2 wide band sensor.
What can I do with this "purple" wire. I was told that I could hook it up to naother O2 sensor that I bought and installed separately. I don't know what to do. The guage looks nice with the green LED lit up, but is basically non-functional now.

This is exactly why this guage is useless but if you like to see it do cool stuff w/ a couple of colors like i did  it cool. PM WRXBOY he knows where it goes on the WRX or you could check here--->http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/faq/faq1.html Scroll down to the Engine and drive train and you will see it HOW TO HOOK UP MY O2 SENSOR.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!
Guys please refrain from giving out bad info hear. First off, you must have an upgraded uppipe of sorts, NO CAT. Then you can add an O2 sensor specifically for the quage. In the down pipe works well. Now if you remove ALL of your cats, then you can hook up to the factory down stream O2 sensor.
You will only be getting useless info if yuo tap into a sensor that is AFTER ANY CAT!
This is why the factory wide band O2 is before even the precat in the uppipe. The down stream Sensor is actually only there to tell the computer whether the Cats are working properly or NOT.
You will also run into a problem down the line if your hooked into the down stream "factory" O2 if you remove the cats and don't put in a "cel fix kit of sorts" This will effectivly trick both the comptuer and the sensor.
Here's the bottom line, you need to purchase either a 3 or 4 wire Quality O2 sensor, and install it in the down pipe at some point between the Turbo and catalytic converter. Any good exhaust shop can put the hole in the pipe and weld in the O2 bung. Then its just a matter or wireing up the sensor and your gauge.

Ps any questions feel free to respond back.

Here what to do
Well, well, well I had this same problem. If you get a hold of the autometer book for 04 and you look in the back of the thing it names the wrx along with all vw's as cars with wide band sensors that it will not work with. autometer has a fix for this problem, you buy one of their o2 sensors. They are around $90.00 shipped(do a google search) don't mess with your stock one at ALL this will f it up. ( had a friend have to buy a new rex sensor because he tryed to anyway, he also toasted his colbat guage.
