Hello! I will soon be purchasing a cat-back and AP for my 04 WRX. Cobb told me to but a cat-back on during Stage 1. Should I put the cat in and then remap the ECU or remap and then install the cat? Thanks!
I installed the catback first. And when I finally got the AP, I remapped to Stg1, 91. You will notice a slight performance gain with the catback. And a big change with the remap.
It won't matter which one you do first IMO becasue the ECU will learn as needed. You can speed this up abit by resetting the ECU, pull the battery cable off, push the break pedal and reinstall the battery cable.

If you dont have the cash for both I would go with the AP first since you will gain a lot more hp with the AP than the cat back. If you plan on going stage 2 in the future I would save the extra $ and buy a TBE all at once rather than pieceing it together starting with the catback. I actually started off with the catback then went with the AP (AP wasnt out when I bought my catback) and now my Blitz Nur-Spec R catback will have to be customised to mate up with my TXS DP and cat pipe. I would have saved some $ if I would have just bought the TXS TBE.
If you plan on an upipe in the future and dont plan on doing the install yourself you will save some cash if you do it when you do your TBE.

Good deal MO REX. I appreciate it. Any more opinions on that?
...Also, since I'm still pretty new with WRX's, a turboback includes the catback (midpipe, muffler, etc.), downpipe, and the uppipe correct?

the up pipe is not a part of the tbe. if you plan on gettin an up pipe. install it when you do the dp. it'll save you some time and money on gaskets.
