Bov

is puting on a BOV really that bad for your car? i heard it is actually pretty bad since there is no air coming out...all atmosphere...what if i just put in a BOV anything going to happend in the long run?

TurnWRX 03-17-2004 10:35 PM

it's not that bad, some may cause rough idle and whatnot, but it's mainly for sound and releasing backpressure. No performance increase.

Daredevil 03-17-2004 11:34 PM

not bad
does'nt help performance with stock cars (need LOTS Of HP to really do something)

just that awesome WOOSH

i love my gfb bov

aznb128 03-18-2004 12:23 AM

but i thought it made your car run rich, thus making it bad for the ecu and the engine...it is all atmospheric...i may be wrong..but please help me clarify...one qustion....if i put it on....will it harm my car since it now runs rich???

TurnWRX 03-18-2004 12:30 AM

not really ;)

TurnWRX 03-18-2004 12:47 AM

but yes, it makes your car run rich. Other than that it won't damage your engine or anything. You'll just waste more gas.

IT DOES DAMAGE YOUR CAR, well the spark plugs at least i have one that went bad, but still worth the sound

Good question aznb128 I was about to ask the same questions, but you did all the work for me lol.

Go fast bits makes 50/50 bov's. Still vents some into the resurc. hose to help the ecu. Also the stealth is good too so yuo can go from mild to wild a the turn of a button. GFB bov's are expensive but i have seen em work and i'm am going to get one. I have other stuff to spend money on right now(suspension,reflash,etc...). Stock bov will work for now. From what i hear it is good up to a pretty high hp and boost level.

any evidence that the bov caused it?

HongKongBeef 03-18-2004 12:30 PM

running rich makes the spark plugs wear out faster. leading to misfires. just change the plugs regularly

michaelmorteo 03-18-2004 01:33 PM

there triple platunim plugs there a little costly to just be changing out every now and again....

ride5000 03-18-2004 02:19 PM

copper always provides the best performance. must be changed more often, but cheaper and better spark.

i'm not convinced the momentarily rich condition does a damned thing to the plugs.
