Car Info: 1973 PORSCHE 914 W/2004 WRX ENGINE
Hello,
I have a 2004 2.0 WRX engine that I have mounted in my 1973 Porsche 914. We had to relocate the factory turbo and the intercooler by utilizing a custom uppipe and downpipe, the engine fits perfectly. I have seen a few others try this conversion, but I was not happy with their engine mount solution, so we designed our own. My question is this. What BOV should I get? I want a loud BOV that is performance oriented. Please advise.
thx
Keith

Hey, sounds like a fantastic swap. I don't have a BOV recommendation, sorry, but when the car is up and running I'm sure a bunch of us would like to hear about it.

No problem
I actually live in Vegas with one of the mechanics from Renegade Hybrids (they put chevy small blocks into porsches). He is putting his WRX engine in this weekend. The other people's engine mount actually did not work. We fabricated three mounts before we found one that is rock solid. We should have one of the two 914's up and running by Wednesday this week (6/1/05). I will take extensive photos for all to enjoy. I think this little guy is going to haul rump!

Thanks, looks nice. I will post the numbers once we get some miles on the first car. I am sure Renegade Hybrids is in the works figuring the cost for this complete conversion kit. Renegade has fabricated a very nice radiator kit for the 914. The radiator does not sit in the front at an angle, rather straight up and down like a conventional radiator set up. They mount two fans at the rear of the radiator that pulls the air, and then the heated air from the radiator exits through two large holes in the fender. It is pretty trick. I am interested in the performance of this vehicle. All indicators point to it being very fast, and handle like a slot car. Remember this car is only 2,000 lbs.
usually atmospheric BOV's arent needed until ur pushin like 20 psi....but if u want the bling factor of the WOOSH ide recommend the HKS ssqv for a nice loud one OR u can go for an adjustable BOV like a worx. u can set it to 100% atmospheric, 50/50, so on and so forth. Its just a matter of if u want it rich inbetween shifts or not....
