Blow off valve vs. pop off valve

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a pop off valve? I think it goes before the manifold. Similar to a BOV but on the opposite side. not sure? I am new guy to the WRX just trying to figure out some of this stuff.
Thanks:confused:

a pop off valve is an emergency valve, to protect the motor. When boost exceeds a certain point, the valve opens until it drops below the pressure required to open it.

You know what a bov does.
