02 WRX turbo upgrade time

OK, I can't take another Arizona summer with the A/C totally sapping the power of my little 2-liter... time to bump it up. My goal is a wide powerband and modest gains; I am on the stock transmission and factory clutch, so I don't think I can push that too hard. I already have an APS 3" turboback (1 hi-flow cat) and an APS turbine inlet as well as a JDM STI intercooler. Which turbo should I get?

Take the poll! Oh, and let me know your opinion on if I need a fuel rail upgrade or not (in addition to injectors).

76k, Castrol Syntec 5W-30 from 10k miles and in perfect shape (leaks NO oil, no oil in intercooler, burns less than 1/2 quart between changes).

Deffinately wouldn't go with that turbo. I had it on my ej25 and it was kinda slow to spool on that (4k full boost). Would be pretty annoying on a 2.0, if you wanna spend some moolah, id say go for a atp gt28rs (if your like me and love spool) or the gt2871r. That would be perfect for a ej20.

Imo for what's its worth.

IMO...
16g is legit for the price, quick spool but tapers out quickly, city turbo
20g will have significant power gains and if you dont baby your shifts n launches, you will lose your stockness drive line :P (same goes with stock everything tho..)
VF34 is too expensive for what you get IMO and the 39's crack (dont even consider that)
i dont really know too much about the APS series
as for the 18g, that is expensive, but a reliable, power-making turbo that i wish i saved $$ for

again, all IMO

I was looking at the VF22 also, but I need to buy used on my budget and those rarely show up on eBay. I actually do want a "city turbo," this car is not going to the track anytime soon.

i think something like a blouch td05 18g p/p'd would suit you, its kind of the flavor of the year for 2.0l's on nasioc, shouldn't lag too much either

VF34 would be a great all around turbo to go with.
I would also consider upgrading your intercooler too.

The blouch 18g worth the money and good to go. I would say though the 16g is cheap and for what you get and what you want good to go. You are looking for more power with the A/C on so anything that will be really laggy not the way to go. My vote is for the 16g for you
