A standalone system replaces your factory computer.

A piggyback does as the name says and piggybacks your factory computer.

I had a LINK ECU and it did know how to work everything for the most part. There was nothing lost AFAIK.

Does the Link come with proper setup so that I can kick start right away?
I alwasy had the feeling that you need to spend extra bucks to go to performance shops for some dyno tuning. How hard and more importantly, risky, is it to tune it yourself?

The WRXLINK comes for the most part ready to run.

You do however have to have the serialLINK to hook up to a laptop for tuning or have the handheld module for tuning.

Can you break things? Most definietly.

To get the most performance, should you take it to a shop? That is debateable. However if you are torn between a standalone and a reflash.. A standalone is not for you.
