Replacement ECU's OR reflash

I think I'm having problems with the factory ECU. Is there a standalone ecu that will replace the factory unit, add some HP and torque, and solve problems with CEL. Also could a ecu reflash solve the problem.

It might help if you've read all the other posts and threads about ECUs first. Do a search.

The car has had many problems with the check engine light coming on, code p1443. As of today it actually looks like I might be getting a new car. Thank you for your replies. I just hope I don't have problems with another car. The car has been in the garage 4 times in 5 weeks. Subaru and the dealership have been great with accomadating my needs so far. But, the car I have now seems to have serious issues.
