I would just do it the right way and go get a tune for your vf43. Dont run a map your not supposed too. I wouldn't recommend it.

bingo.

Thats why the vf39 map is titled vf39 rather than vf43. Find a tuner, make an appointment, have him email you a vf43 safety map to use until your appointment time

vf 43 safty map whats that?

07wrxguy 03-28-2008 10:38 AM

i talked to pual at db tuned and he wasnt sure either

SpADeZ_WRX 03-28-2008 12:03 PM

Its a Temp Map to get you by until you can reach your Appt for a tune.

Kinda like how Cobb For example, has their VF39 Map for their WRX. Its not a full out Tuned map for your car, its designed to basically work with your car for the time being until you can get a Protune or Roadtune, Whatever you decide.

If they wont give you a Safety map, best thing you can do is just run off the wastegate boost, but dont boost your car. You should be okay to make it to a tuner.

Yes, like posted above, a safety map is just a term for a "Safe, working (wont assplode your car)" tune.

If I were in your situation, I wouldnt run the vf39 map. The turbos are similiar but is it worth risking your car?

I know that Ed/EQ Tuning can remote tune (email you a base/safety map). Call/PM/Email him and get his opinion, he may take a day or more to respond but he always gives good, honest advice. He road tunes also, which I'm a big fan of anyway.

**** unless someone can tell me that its ok to run that map i guess i will just wait to put it on. if i cant boost with the new turbo might as well wait

No one is going to tell you its 100% A-OK to run because it ISN'T. Like I said before, theres a reason that the vf39 and vf43 turbos are different names, and theres a reason that the vf39 turbo map isn't titled the vf43 turbo map

07wrxguy 03-28-2008 11:45 PM

for sure guess ill wait

I thought they are the same turbo just 43 isn't prone to the wg crack?

If they have the same characteristics I don't see why it wouldn't work...

07wrxguy 03-29-2008 02:22 PM

thats what im sayin

you're on the money...same turbo just stronger wg.
You'll be fine for a TEMPORARY basis.

Bagin,DVS 04-08-2008 01:32 PM

is the waste gate orfice the same size?
does the 43 flow better then the 39?
becasue if the hole is the same and the flow rate is the same. what would the advantage be to runnig it?
i was told the 43 was the sti turbo for the 08, and it would be a good replacement to the 39, no boost creep issues.
i have a 06 wrx, i want to get one(43) but how different are they, 43 39 and wrx tr stock turbo.

the reason i s more power obviously, but the boost creep issue i heard will be takin care of in the newer 43 turbo. or is this all bs?
