boost controllers
so i've been reading about other peoples experinces with their boost contollers, and some stories go like this, "i was driving, then all of a sudden when i floored my car in the rain, the boost spiked to 20psi." I thought when you set the boost at a certain level it stayed there. Does this only happen on a certain type of BC, like EBC compared to a MBC?

If you set your gain/balance/[insert selenoid response speed here] function too high, this will happen.

i was under the assumption that BC's work with a number system, either bar or psi. Say the controller only went to 1.5 bar, are you saying that if you set it the BC at greater than 1.4 bar it will fluctuate? I thought BC's were supposed to hold the boost level to where you set it no matter what. Is there any BC's that do not fluctuate no matter the circumstance?

With and EBC you have to set a gain(how aggressive the controler responds) and in that if it is set really aggressive it can over compensate, because the controler can't think fast enough.

Not completely because now your relying on a spring, and you can get part thotle-full boost.
You take a chance either way but with the EBC you have more say in the safety of your settings with a MBC,... what you got is what you get. |
AFAIK changes in temperature and altitude can also affect boost levels.
