i don't see how speed shifting is bad. shifting is shifting. As long as people don't slam those gears. i mean if the clutch is disengaged, it really doesn't matter how fast you move the hand.

is granny shifting the way to go? haha.

Dude, there's something between granny shifting and speed shifting. Even with the clutch disengaged, you are going to wear out the sychronizers faster if you shift too fast.
