reverse in '03 WRX
Its not just you, its every car with a manul transmission ever sold. Reverse doesnt have a synchronizer on it, so it'll always be rougher. If it wont go in, put it in nuetral, clutch out, rev up the motor abit (just blip to 2k or something), clutch in and it should go in fine.
If you autocross you'll have to do it. It'll go in, but you gotta RAM it in and yes, I cant believe I'm saying it, but double clutching may be the only way you'll get into first in some of those turns ;-p

I (usually) have no problems getting into 1st @ about 20 mph or so - just give the gas a little heel blip to get the revs up before you go into first.
Reverse, I gotta agree with InfamousDX - keep the clutch in, put the shifter to 3rd or 4th, then back to reverse. On a cold morning, it sometimes takes a time or two, but no worries, it's reverse! Better than my old Honda - the JDM b16 S1 tranny would go from 5th into reverse directly! Mind you the clutch wouldn't engage, but that's pretty scary!
