neutral position switch troubles?

Anybody replace the neutral position switch on an 04/05 STi 6MT?

While trying to hook it up for the remote start on my alarm I noticed that I would get continuity to ground if the gear lever was between dead neutral and a gear. But I get nothing when in neutral (let go of the stick) or in gear.

I was under the impression that I should get continuity to ground at all positions exept when in gear, including dead neutral.

Any thoughts?

is the neutral position switch negative triggered or postive triggered?

Uh.. according to the service manual, resistance to ground is less when in neutral.
