LSD or center dif issue?

If there is a link or another thread I should research, let me know. I managed to get enough snow under my car that my right front and left rear tires spun freely and I could go no where. The other two alternate tires did not budge. This was in a slow go act of backing up into deep snow in a tight uturn attempt.
I thought the 2002 had limited slip that would stop something like this. Is my AWD jacked up? I thought that if one tire slips in the rear that the viscus (sp?) clutches would stop the tire that spins and transfers power to the other tire with traction on a given axle. I also thought that the front had a limited slip to take care of the front.
It was an education in what 50-50 pwr split means in a subaru when I saw this one drive tire in the front and one in the back as primary drive tires.
Anywho, can someone educate me on this or point be to the dunce corner where I can find info on this. I've checked the forum and internet to no avail.
