Exedy stage 1 vs Exedy stage 2 (opinions)

So here is what I am trying to figure out and I hope people who have personal experiences with these clutches can help.

I am getting a new clutch, wife did a number on mine when she was learning how to drive a MT.

SO I am weighing the stage1 and the stage 2.

Stage 1 i know i will need a bit more pedal pressure than stock but not much which is fine but i dont know if I will get full use of it as i have some upgrades coming up in the future. Plus i do visit the track frequently for drags and NASA racing. Plus it wont be so much that my wife cant drive it

Stage 2 I know little about. I assume it will need much more pedal pressure and it should be able to withstand the next batch of future upgrades, plus handle my track time i put on it, however the wife may have a hard time driving it when she has too, and i sometimes have long commutes in rush hour traffic.

I really wanna go stage 2 but would anyone say that having it makes rush hour really suck.

Ultimatly i would like to keep the wife out of the car as much as possible but sometimes she does have to drive it becuase i need to take her car.

But anyone that has these setups, preferably people who have had both set ups, i would appreciate yrou opinion between the 2

thanks in advance

Stay with a stock one Ryan, a non oem or stock clutch can really mess up that week 5speed, I'm still n a stock one with all my power and I have had no [problems with it.

I think people have a problem with upgrading to "track use" stuff because they are going to "track" their car, but 99% of the time the car is on the streets.

Is this the same ICB who told me "No I don't want an aftermarket clutch cuz I need to save teh moneyz!"????

Uh huh, thought so. In any case, like I told you before, use a stage 1 clutch if anything, either Exedy or ACT, and make sure it's a clutch only, using the OEM flywheel. DO NOT get a lightweight flywheel on stock ECU. That's my recommendation. Your experiences may vary. I've used ACT and Exedy on various cars over my life, and both are great. I currently run an Exedy Twin-plate with flywheel.

When I did the clutch on my 02 WRX I ended up having Superior Friction make me a Kevlar Organic unit and it worked great.

Nice smooth engagement, held everything I could throw at it

My thoughts on the exedy stage 1. Very heavy pedal pressure on my sti. The engagement is perfect, no chatter and very oem like. Would be perfect except for the pedal. I had a act six puck and that clutch was horrible, hella heavy, hella chatter, very unforgiving, and also took a crap after 25k ish miles.

I highly suggest you stop looking at clutches in stages and start looking at torque limits.

Make sure whatever clutch you buy is roughly 90 foot pounds over the wheel measured torque.

Example

Your car was dynoed at 465 wheel torque you install a clutch thats rated for 475. Your torque at the flywheel will be over the clutch rating due to drivetrain loss.

Can anyone tell me what the main difference between the exdy oem clutch and the exedy stage 1 clutch is? Why is there an oem clutch when some are saying that the stage 1 clutch came stock on the car? Is it a bad idea to use an exedy oem clutch kit with my car with up and down pipe, n1 exhaust, spt intake, and AP stage 2 map. Anyone with this kind of setup know if the HP/TQ is too great for this clutch?
