Clutch Adjustment Help Sought
Hi Guys, I'm new here, and could use some help. As my name denotes, I have a 1990 Legacy. In trying to avoid a clutch job (slips when giving it too much throttle), I want to try adjusting the clutch. Where does one do so on this car? I read somewhere that on the pedal is not prudent because it can throw-off the hill-holder feature. I really appreciate your input. Thanks!

I know. I realize that's the solution, but after the quote I got, I don't want to dump that kind of $ into something 14 years old. Just trying to buy some more time - ideally to get one more winter out of her. I'll crawl under and look for an adjustment lever somewhere...

It wont help. I went through the same situation with my '95 Impreza when the clutch was going out, I tried to have the clutch adjusted and it just made it get worse faster. Within like 2 months, your car probably wont be drivable
I suggest the cheapest route: Buy a stock clutch plate and do the install yourself

You know, that might be the route to go. Heck, maybe not... Just got married, and with 4 stick rides, she really wants an automatic, and I understand. Considering that I tinker with the other 3 (MINI Cooper S, dune buggy and a kit car), I really don't want another project these days...
Anyone want a Legacy wagon!?
I'm in the SF Bay Area (San Jose)...
Is it even worth pondering a conversion to an automatic on the Legacy? The car runs like a champ, minus the slippage... Thanks for the input.

Didn't you say you weren't interested in another project... and didn't want to spend the $ on a new clutch?

First, it's not something I would do myself, so it wouldn't be another project to sap my time and energy...
And in the whole context of the situation, if I were to get an automatic out of it, then I wouldn't need to buy the wife an automatic where I was looking to spend at least 5 to 10k...
I appreciate the input guys. Thanks.
