automatic transmission advice
hear's a good one for you all. does it damage my auto tranny to shift it manually when in the twisties? i couldn't get a 5 speed because of an amputated foot but am not very happy with the auto. also, did i read some where that the computer memorizes your driving habits and shifts accordingly. since i babied it during break in , it always wants to shift at around 4500rpm.
can i disengage the battery and drive the heck out of it for a while to increase the shift point?
thanks

well what do i have to do to get a trans. temp gauge installed? how much? what temp is normal and where do i enter the"red Zone"? you seem to know what you're talking about and i can use all the advice you can offer.i want to be able to shift the car(really wish there would have been a triptonic style available) but need the trans to last. funds are tight.thanks

A trans temp goes for around $90-$150. There is a test plug that you plug your trans temp into, I'd send you the link to the install, but NASioC search is slow at the moment.
The temps should be around 170F-180F Idle (normal driving), and up to 200F after hard driving with no Synthetic ATF or Trans Cooler.
Synthetic ATF and a Trans Cooler are thingd you might want to look into, as these will keep you around 180F repectfully.
