ACT Clutch/flywheel on 2006 WRX TR
 

Does anyone have an ACT clutch/flywheel setup on an 06 TR? If so, how do you like it and how does it feel driving it daily?

I did User reviews and it did not answer my question.

Had the Act streetlite flywheel and Exedy clutch in the wagon.
You drove that once or twice if memory serves. the act/act won't be much different.

Little bit stiffer than stock.

well which setup? as they have stage 1...and a few 6 pucks...if there is a specific question i can help answer, let me know :)

watch getting the 6 puck as I have heard its hard on the whole drive train if its a street car the engagement is very harsh. I just installed the act stage one clutch and light weight flywheel but my trans is getting ppg gears in it at the moment so I haven't drove it with the new clutch.

ive heard gears snap nearing 300 + hp. Would just getting a clutch opposed to gears plus the cost of labor, solve my problem or would there still be cause for concern.

would cause more shockload. Just upgrade your gears =)

As to the OP i always thought the lighter flywheels would make our cars mis fire?

I'd go with a basic stage 1 Exedy Setup.

I have heard the lighter weight flywheels will make our cars idle hard so I am kinda worried about that since I don't have an E.M. yet but working on that problem. but I hope it dosen't

Also Just any fyi The whole ppg install including billet shifter forks is going to cost around 5500 for the whole build. But from what I have herd no problems after that. the axles will snap before the trans will fail.

who have you are you getting your gears through??

My colleague Hai Nguyen had the ACT 6 puck clutch unsprung with stock flywheel and hated it.

aaa yeah thats not to streetable there and the stock flywheel won't hold up to the ceramic clutch very long, it will chew that flywheel up. and the engagement would be so harsh it's not funny. why would he go with an unsprung clutch??

AS long as you stay with a 14lb flywheel you will be fine but when you start getting into the real light weight flywheels that when you will run into problems. there not really intended for street use. more for racing applications.

I don't know how close to an ACT Competition Clutch is but I have an Comp Clutch 6 puck sprung setup in my car with ther steel lightweight flywheel. The ceramic disk was a bit rought for street, wife hated it and it was pretty much on/off but it held my ~300whp beautifully. I've just switched to their iron disk 6 puck sprung series and it's a much, much better and still holds the power with no issues.

The stage one organic clutch is good to like 350 flb of torque. And it's just a little heaver that a stock feel. That why I opted for that.
