5th gear grinding
 

hey sorry if this is a repeated question i just bought my car used and noticed that when i go into 5th it always grinds and sometimes when i go into first it will do the same unless i am completly stopped. What can the problem be i have 35100 miles so i still have 900 miles and subaru said it will take all day to look at it what you guys think

Let it take all day. It shouldn't grind. Did you test drive it before you bought it? Did it grind then?
If the tranny is shot, and you can get it fixed under warranty, do it.

i test drove it alright but only got it to fourth we drove it to la and back from san diego and i didnt notice anything but yea im hoping it will be fixed under warranty im taking it in tomorrw at 7 am and letting them take it apart and look at it. Is this covered under the power train warranty... im afraid they are gonna tell me to bring it back in a week or so and by then the 36,000 mile warranty will be up

Well, if it's stop driving it for a week or two...OR pay~$2500 for trans repair...which would you prefer?
