1st gear grind!!

Yesterday when I was driving. I was downshifting from 2nd to 1st driving less than 15 mph ..my 1st gear grinded, this happened a couple of times after that. I just had my 30K service done about 2 1/2 weeks ago at MPJ. Was it because I didn't press the clutch all the way?..or is this a normal problem for the WRX??

any ideas?

Thanx in advance

They are probably your gear synchos. they get worn and cause gridning and will probably need to be replaced soon. They are warrenty-able too.. i think.

the only time you should be shifting into first is from a stop... if you shift into first often like that, its your synchros.. first gear is only to get the car moving, once its moving, even though it may feel boggy at a low speed like that 2nd, should be able to move the car accordingly

... yea 1st gear should definintely be used from a stop only. Shoot when i get lazy in traffic, i'll start my car in second .. just gotta feather the clutch and gas a lil more.

15miles per hour sounds pertty fast, you probably have to almost redline your car to properly revmatch a 2-1 shift going that fast
The only times i stick it into first is at a stop or if im slowly rolling

oh.. hmm .. then i think you may of forced it into first... dont wanna do that >_<.
if u wanna do 2-1... you gotta double clutch it and rev it pertty high at around 6k or so. i do it here and there but for me at least it doesnt seem to go in reliably, so i dont mess around with it too much...

what tranny oil do you use.. you should try using penzoil synchromesh that might take away your grind... mine shifts like butter Try calling your local autozone to see if they carry it, you won't be dissaopinted.. works great on wrx's... doesnt work so great on sti's tho
