WTB: Help from Stockton area Subaru expert (diagnostic)

Hey Subaru guys in Stockton.
I need help with my 2004 WRX. I have some sort of leak on the passenger side of my engine. I'm not positive if it's coolant or oil.

Here is a pic of the passenger side of the motor.
Smoke is coming directly under the area marked with the red arrow.

Here is an image of the area the smoke is coming from.

It seems to be coming from the uppipe area but I'm not sure.

Name me your price. Be reasonable, since I could just take it to DBTuned or EQ Tuning.

I just need a diagnostic. I want to know what's wrong with my car.
Leak down or compression test may be needed.

Go to autozone and get a tracer UV light and dye. It works amazingly well.

I JUST finished diagnosing a leak in that VERY same spot... turned out to me my high pressure power steering line that had a small leak in it.

Your photo's look identical to how mine looked.

The high pressure power steering line is the one in your first photo that has the brass/metal band going across it.

My leak was right where the hard line meets the rubber line... in fact it almost looks like there is moisture at that union in your photos. Look just above the metal clamp where the metal crimp union is.

Almost guaranteed to be that high pressure power steering line.

I ordered a stainless steel line from Technafit for $80 but one of the fittings that it came with is wrong so they are working on getting me the right part.

P and L motorsports also makes a replacement power steering line for like $100.

Subaru OEM replacement hose will run you about $300

Oh yea... dont let that leak persist for too long. I didn't immediatly replace mine and drove around with it leaking for like 2 months.

It eventually softened my lower turbo coolant hose (the one next to the leak that has the silver heat protector round it) and it split open.

Awesome, this is very informative.
So where do you put the dye? In the coolant reservoir?

After taking a better look, it is almost sure to be the hose u mentioned. It looks to be leaking where the metal bracket is. Is this hard to replace?[QUOTE=Harry Maneuvers;3377816]Go to autozone and get a tracer UV light and dye. It works amazingly well.
