TGV Deletes anyone?

I just finished up doing some TGV deletes along with a little P&P'ing on some '05 WRX TGVs. Is anyone interested in getting these done for their car?

I have a set of stock 2006 STI TGVs (2004-2006 STI) that I'm picking up on Wed. and should be finished by Thursday night. Then I have the set for all WRXs (2002-2007) that I'll swap out with mine this weekend.

This includes the removal of the butterfly valves, rod, sensors and motors then tapping and sealing the ends. After that comes a little porting to match the gaskets and polishing with an 80 grit flapper. I also removed the gasket marks and stuck on grime on the mating surfaces with a light gasket remover wheel.

I don't have any pricing yet on the labor and parts. Just testing the waters right now within the local chapter.

I didn't take any 'before' pics, but here are the afters:

Yes you do.
Got to turn off ~8 DTCs so the Check Engine light doesn't stay on.

Another way of doing this is to use the OEM deletes.

No, I've never heard of having to be retuned. You'll get a CEL from the TGV sensor. Most EM software have a way to disable that CEL from the sensor not being there after doing this mod. I'll know more about it this weekend when I install these in my car.

Ya, you can disable that code easily with the Cobb AP. Just email Cobb and they should send you a map that'll disable it.

The gains after this mod are crazy. You're looking at 10-15 whp/wtq afterwards. There's also an average of abt 150 more cfm of air flow.

It seems that there was one tuner in response to someone's question. But thank you for your informative post.

Getting 'retuned' after this mod is not required to keep the CEL off but it is very easily done if you have an AP/ST, Enginuity, ect.

Here's a thread with more info:

The increased air flows are from 3rd party flowbench tests. You don't suddenly run lean when you put these on.

Please read up on how these work and why JDM STI engines don't even have these; hense why people do JDM intake manifold swaps. This process is about deleting a very restrictive piece in the USDM intake.

Actually, there's not much gained from doing tgv deletes, unless you tune the car for it.
Now, if you're doing a bigger turbo...>20G...then by all means, delete away.

But to say "tgv deletes give you XXX more power" is wrong.
